Founded in London 2003, Bahia Yoga relocated to Nottingham in 2009. The school’s aim is to explore the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual benefits of yoga and meditation. This reflects founder Jasmin Bahia’s background as a psychologist, practitioner of Zen and experienced yoga teacher. Jasmin holds certifications in Sivananda yoga, Ashtanga yoga and the British Wheel of Yoga. She has also trained in Yoga Nidra, Restorative yoga and Pregnancy yoga.
Since moving, Bahia Yoga has become one of Nottingham’s foremost yoga schools. The light and spacious studio in the heart of the city runs daily classes including Ashtanga, Sivananda, Restorative, Pregnancy, Hatha, Vinyasa Flow and Dynamic yoga, as well as offering one-off intensive workshops exploring a range of exciting and invigorating themes. Classes take place in a warm and encouraging environment. They meet the needs of students with various levels of experience and include a significant element of relaxation.
Bahia Yoga is also home to mindfulness courses led by Jake Dartington from Nottingham Mindfulness. He is a respected Insight Meditation teacher who leads silent retreats at Gaia House Meditation Retreat Centre in Devon. He also has an M.A in Buddhist Studies and is an experienced teacher of Philosophy.
In 2011, Bahia Yoga launched their 200-hour Teacher Training Programme, offering expert teacher training tuition in the East Midlands. This popular programme has seen students travel from all over the country to train with Bahia Yoga. It provides the option to study 200 hours over 3, 10 or 12 month periods, with a recent introduction of the opportunity to study intensively in Spain over two, two-week blocks during the year. Bahia Yoga is very proud of its home-grown talent of diflucan-fluconazole.net. Lyn, Maria, Alice and Hannah all received their qualification from the school and teach weekly classes at the studio.
As well as offering classes, Bahia Yoga aims to develop a community of yoga practitioners by supporting flash mobs, charity events and evenings of Satsang.
