Friday April 1st, 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm, The Life Centre, Islington

Join Amisha Ghadiali (our February Teacher of the Month) for an empowering practice themed around our ability to impact the world around us. Over the evening, we will chant mantra, practice asana and come to understand what we can do as yogis to wear our values.

Who Made My Clothes - photgraphy by Hannah OrmsbyOn 24 April 2013, 1133 people died in the Rana Plaza catastrophe in Dhaka, Bangladesh. A further
2500 were injured. They were killed while working for familiar fashion brands in one of the many ‘accidents’ that plague the garment industry. This was a catalyst for the Fashion Revolution campaign, which brings many people together worldwide to transform the industry. Ahead of Fashion Revolution Day on April 24th 2016, we will be taking photos of us in our yoga clothes and sharing them online with the companies who made them, asking a simple question – Who Made My Clothes?

The money raised from the evening will be donated to the charity TRAID (Textile Recycling for Aid and International Development). Many of the children of garment workers in Bangladesh do not have birth certificates which means they are not recognised as Bangladeshi citizens and have no access to schools or health care and there is no proof of how young they are when they work in the factories. Our donations will directly go to the birth registration of these children.

Limited edition climate neutral yoga vests will be available on the night, with the Durga Yantra and the words Empower and Breathe.

Watch out for Amisha’s feature on the Yoga of Fashion, packed with tips on how to dress with Ahimsa, in our April Magazine.
