When we want to create momentum in our lives, it is important to use a combination of both the masculine and feminine energies available to us, rather than a reliance on one over the other. We are looking for the union of both energies to move us
forwards. The masculine and feminine energies are not about us being male or female; this is about us accessing the different tools that those sets of energies give us. Both are incredibly important and powerful for finding balance, joy, and contentment and also for creating momentum.
For me, first comes the feminine – the part of me that is connected to my intuition, my creativity, my ability to be with the guidance coming through.
Every morning I tune into this energy so I can have her guidance as my compass. Next come the masculine energies, where it is about taking these ideas and desires and moving them forwards – I use my ability to build and strategise and to pull on resiliency and determination here.
As an idea, some of the feminine energies that are available to you are reflection, creativity, emotional guidance, being, heart connection, compassion, sensuality, and acceptance. Some of the masculine energies are action-taking, logic, boundaries, objectivity, risk-taking, assertiveness, analysis and discipline.
The thing is, a lot of us rely on the masculine energies, which means we get into a continual state of pushing, striving, fixating on achievement and moving forwards at all costs. On the flip side, we can get stuck in the feminine where we never move forwards, we become passive and stagnant, and are stuck in indecisiveness.
As you are reading this, what is coming up for you in terms of areas where you feel you might be out of balance?
Exercise for Momentum
Look at where you feel you might be out of balance and see if you can think of something practically that you can do to swap the masculine energy for the feminine or vice versa.
For example:
If you are always on the go, take 10 minutes each day to train yourself to simply be. Set a timer on your phone and practice sitting quietly, looking out the window, or being in nature. If you are someone who is indecisive and struggles to move forwards, ask yourself where you could take some forward action. Practice disciplining yourself into doing something small each day to move things forward. Again, I would recommend setting up a reminder on your phone to make sure you actually do this.
