How does an active yet truly rejuvenating retreat sound? A trip that combines restorative yoga with unrivalled walking opportunities whilst being based in a tranquil location that allows you to revel in the natural surrounding beauty. If you enjoy the idea of connecting with the great outdoors then this could be the retreat for you.
The unique venue of Schloss Schneeebrg, a historic country estate which dates back to the 15th century will play host to two Yoga & Hiking Retreats this September. Partnering with UK yoga instructors, these weeks will offer guests a chance to retreat, adventure, learn and relax, focussing on both body and mind with complementary activities that boost overall health.
Based in the picturesque, traditional Austria village of Trins, just 20 minutes from Innsbruck the retreats are designed to take advantage of the idyllic setting, making use of both the large indoor attic studio as well as the surrounding meadows and pastures to practice, meditate and reconnect. This is a place where blue skies are punctured by dramatic peaks and wild flowers blanket the fields, Austria makes for an extremely special yoga retreat location.
2nd-9th September: Yoga lead by Melanie Cheng.
Mel will be returning to Europe from a year based in India, Thailand and Hong Kong to lead this week sharing her experiences gained on her travels and work with Simon Low. From an inspirational life choice and change of direction, Mel completed her two year teacher training in 2012. She has practised many different styles of yoga, but now favours a balanced practice of dynamic (vinyasa) and restorative (yin) yoga which she will bring to the trip through two daily yoga classes.
14th-20th September: Yoga lead by Elaine Macey, Yoga/SUPYoga Teacher and Artistic Director of 4Motion Dance Theatre Company.
Reflective, nature-inspired, inclusive and fun are the key attributes to Elaine’s yoga classes. A Dancer, Choreographer, SUPYoga Teacher and huge fan of being outdoors in nature and on water, Elaine combines her movement experience and Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga training to create a unique and dynamic flowing practice. She is passionate about making yoga accessible for everyone, taking yoga to different spaces – on water, at the top of a mountain, surrounded by snow or on a yoga mat.
Peaceful walks will be lead by the Schloss team daily, allowing you to connect with nature and yourself, leaving you reinvigorated, de-stressed and removed from daily life. There will be plenty of opportunities for wild swimming, to experience the wonderful alpine huts that dot the mountains and discover this peaceful corner of the world.
Meals during the week will be an beautiful selection of European, Middle Eastern and Asian inspired vegetarian food. Breakfasts and dinners will be taken on the adjoining tower which remains from the original castle with sat on the land. Here you can relax in the hammocks before eating under candle light with the sound of the river below. Lunches will be enjoyed up in the mountains at picnic spots which offer breathtaking vistas.
The carefully outlined itinerary for these weeks allows for time to enjoy other activities as well- perhaps an afternoon wandering historic Innsbruck, renting a bike to explore more of the valley or spreading out on the lawn with a good book.
