Studio Review: Paradise Koh Yao boutique Beach Resort & Spa

It goes without saying that this was by far the best located studio I’ve reviewed. Why? Because it overlooked a perfect beach on the stunning, secluded island of Koh Yao Noi in Thailand! As the speed boat approached the island, the first thing we saw was a sign saying ‘Welcome to Paradise’.  And paradise it most certainly was! I could get carried away and write a whole article on the finer touches of the resort such as being greeted by the friendly staff with a freshly squeezed juice and an ice-cold face towel, the rose petals in the Jacuzzi bath, the sea-kayaking through deserted mangroves… but I must focus on the yoga!
Imagine a smart but simple wooden hut which opens out onto a private beach with a classic Thai archipelago view of blue sea and limestone karsts. Well, this was where I practised yoga twice a day for three days.  All classes were taught by the lovely, calm Kai. The morning classes ran from 7:30-9:30 and the evening from 4:30-6. I preferred the morning classes as they involved energetic Vinyasa Flow sequences whilst the evenings were more Hatha focused with Pranayama breathing techniques. To be honest, I would have been happy doing any form of yoga as just looking out of the studio to the expansive sea and hearing the waves gently breaking on the shore was enough for me!

The spa experience provided at Paradise was also exceptional tucked away in the tropical forest next to the resort. With such a range of treatments, it was hard to choose what to go for! I had a 1-hour Thai massage which was, in one word, sensational.

There are apparently even more luxurious and secluded places to stay on the island, but if you’re looking to practise yoga in beautiful, tranquil surroundings, eat delicious Thai food, indulge yourself at a spa, discover a relatively tourist free island in Thailand and completely chill out then you won’t go far wrong with the Paradise Resort.
