Teacher of the month – Eleonora Zampatti

Eleonora Zampatti – I’m a native of Milan Italy, certified personal trainer, nutritionist, yogini and fitness enthusiast. I’ve always had a passion for fitness. My teaching experience includes Pilates, dance, strength training, and Shakti Power Flow, a unique strength and conditioning class I designed especially for professional dancers and dancers at heart.

In 2008, after years of teaching in Italy, as well as a career in synchronised swimming, I moved to New York and shifted my focus primarily to yoga. I began with a rigorous Ashtanga practice, followed by Bikram yoga where I truly learned how to push my limits. I then discovered the beauty of the Vinyasa flow and fell deeply in love with it.

Johanna Bell from Sonic yoga has been an instrumental teacher for me; she helped me to connect to my feminine power and to accept, even embrace, the fragile part of me. I became aware of my dark side and was challenged to step into the light, and this is what I try to share when I teach my students.

From this uncertain place, I teach and practise according to the moon cycle, the cycle of darkness and light, life and death, strength and surrender. I challenge my students to move steadily forward physically and embrace the humour both on the mat and beyond.

I try to teach my students that yoga is much more than just asana; I encourage them to recognise their strengths and overcome their fears and weaknesses. My classes are challenging yet accessible, providing my students with the knowledge and courage that they need to carry their practice out of the yoga studio and into their lives.
