Teacher of the month: Faye Blundell

“Once you open your heart to yoga anything is possible!”

I was born and raised in Liverpool and always dreamt of becoming a professional dancer. I loved the physical expression of dance and dedicated all my time into making a career out of it. Unfortunately I suffered a major knee injury and was told I would never dance again.  All my dreams where shattered and I was left in a dark place feeling emotionally weak and lost.

I took time out to discover what I really wanted, as I was still keen to be active and deepen my understanding of the physical body I studied personal training, but my heart wasn’t in it. I knew there was something bigger and bolder out there – I just had to find my calling. It was on the mat where I discovered that yoga was to be the driving force of my entire life.

I developed a passion for Ashtanga, Iyengar and Bikram but later found my heart truly lied with Jivamukti. This method was life changing. It taught me compassion, raised my consciousness, awareness and love, and taught me to be a cultivated yogi by using myself, and this amazing gift to be of service to others. I feel blessed to pass this onto my beautiful family, students and people I meet. It’s uplifting to uplift! I give gratitude and love to my teachers Sharon Gannon and David Life.

My primary focus in class is the intention behind the practice along with breath and movement. I bring strong energy, positive asana, laughter, inspiring music to open the heart, chanting to arouse devotion and meditation to still the mind. I want my students to find the light that they truly are and channel all my energy into them, I want everyone to experience this delightful experience and realise with practise, dedication and patience anything is possible. I am truly complete, but this practice never ceases to amaze and excite me, I am always hungry for more knowledge.
