Two years ago, the already-established and respected Freestyle Yoga Project set up the first, dedicated, 24/7 dynamic yoga and movement studio in Tunbridge Wells. Since then, they’ve gone from strength to strength – recently adding a second space on the top floor of their building. Bright, airy, spacious, clean and warm with change and bathroom facilities and all relevant yoga kit (including hanging bar and gym rings).
FYP provides a friendly, informal and welcoming environment in which to explore your full potential. Husband and wife team, Mark and Anna train annually in New York City, which has influenced not only their approach to yoga, but also the vibe of their studio: a little bit of East Village in the Garden of England.
Offering daily classes, 1-1 tuition, workshops, retreats and teacher trainings (rubber-stamped by YAUK), FYP are committed to encouraging students to think for themselves and investigate what’s going on over the side of any particular yogic box. In fact, to also explore what’s going on outside of yoga too! Because no one style of yoga, nor one physical discipline holds all the answers, and so can be potentially limiting.
Mark and Anna are constantly searching for new ways to move, putting together inspiring, challenging, smart, progressive sequences of postures, accompanied by conscious breathing. At some point, all systems of yoga will make you flexible. But what about strength, fitness and agility? FYP places as much emphasis on these areas too. This is intelligent yoga. One size does not fit all.
Everyone is welcome at FYP. Anna and Mark insist that anyone can do what they do. They’d also like to point out that you don’t have to buy into anything to go and train with them – there’s no ideological, philosophical or religious standpoint to what they do. They’re not trying to sell you anything – except health and wellbeing.
Go try them. Your first class is free. You’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain!
