Venture Trust supports a wide range of participants to get back on their feet. They may be homeless, in care, from a challenging background, struggling with addiction or involved in offending.
Many of our young people are dealing with the transition out of systems and institutions, and are trying to forge their own path as capable, successful adults. That transition to independence can be tough, but all of our participants are committed to one common goal: changing their lives for the better.
The Venture Trust team works with each person to ascertain what it is they want to change in their lives, and what they need to do to make it happen. That could be finding a home, gaining skills to enable them to get a job, or getting help with addiction. They then embark on intensive wilderness expeditions in the Scottish Highlands, teaching them to trust, to gain new skills, to find out just what they are capable of, to give them back a sense of pride and achievement. Nature is a powerful tool; getting away from the distractions of modern life, and into the wilderness can help enormously as part of a recovery programme, and is often a turning point for many Venture Trust participants.
Venture Trust charity helps disadvantaged young adults from all over the country. In order to help more people in desperate need of support, Venture Trust has set up Venture Mòr, an activity company and hostel in Applecross. All profits generated go directly towards funding placements on wilderness-based courses. So, whether you are booking accommodation, a yoga or wellbeing retreat, you will also be helping those people most in need of a helping hand.
