Yoga Republic

Yoga Republic studio recently received its highest accolade when the Embassy of India acknowledged their yogic work and nominated Yoga Republic to practise yoga with the President of Ireland and his wife on International Yoga Day. Teachers from the studio were overwhelmed and delighted by the honour. Some of the activities the studio has been involved in include introducing weekend yoga in public parks to Cork city, and supporting and highlighting local animal welfare groups.

The studio has made huge strides in integrating yoga to mainstream medicine and building relationships with Ireland’s medical community. Yoga Republic has worked with third level institutes including Cork’s University Hospital, general practitioners and physiotherapists in Ireland and the UK, and many of the studio’s clients have been referred by medical professionals who have embraced its unique high standards.

Despite demand, the family run studio devotedly retains its core values, small class sizes, personal attention from extremely knowledgeable and passionate teachers and an enduring commitment to the yoga community who have supported them through the last 13 years.

The studio requires a minimum 7-week engagement from practitioners, so they can experience real progress and development. Studio founder, Sackies speaks to every potential student to ensure that the studio can meet their needs and they will have the best learning experience possible. Every student receives individual attention and Yoga Republic maintains a yogic relationship with everyone in their community. Popular, internationally recognised YTTC courses, accredited by Yoga Alliance Professionals are run by Yoga Republic annually.

Yoga Republic, in Cork city was established in 2004 by its founders Sackies and Diana Skalkos and has since become a treasured institution within the city. It is Cork’s oldest yoga studio and is a hidden gem tucked away in Douglas Street, just minutes from the city’s centre.
